Our Failure To Pass the Torch

Read this: Suffering From ‘Sunday School Syndrome’

I am really grieved when I read articles such as this. I haven’t read Ham’s book but it is clear that we have not been able to Biblically educate our children effectively. I’m not sure what went wrong or why we find ourselves in this predicament but we must look ahead. What do we do? What will work?

I believe one area where we failed is in discipling our children and youth. We can’t just teach them the Bible. We also have to model it and “flesh” it out. We needed to challenge our children to think in terms of ethics and morality from a Biblical world view. This is how Jesus did it and we are to do it as He did. We didn’t. We stuck them in Sunday School classes or youth programs where it was about entertainment and Bible stories.

We also allowed government schools to teach them secular hogwash unchallenged. Our kids have been taught evolution and relative morality since the 60’s. It’s not just in schools but in all forms of media as well. The TV and movies they watched and video games they played all were saturated with the hedonistic, pluralistic and materialistic mind set of this culture that we insist on calling Christian. It ain’t. Now we see the pay off.

Let’s get to work. We must claim our upcoming generations for Christ. Before it’s too late.

The Burnettes

Burnettes

Pastor Jesse presenting the Burnettes a check.

On June 7th we had Super Sonday with special guests Bobby and Sherri Burnette. We had a great day. They told us all about the work of Love A Child in Haiti. Their enthusiasm about what they are doing there is contagious. We had already raised $1000.00 to feed a village for a month but in addition to presenting them with that another $2000.00 came in that day. We ate after and we had a great time.

SuperSonday

This Sunday is SuperSonday. We will be watching a video that will help everyone know what the Love A Child ministry is doing in Haiti. You don’t want to miss it. We will also be eating after so bring something good to eat and someone with you. Let’s fill the house.

Amen!

Check this out: Memo to Worship Bands

Can you hear me? You can? I’m sorry if I am shouting, but I have just spent half an hour in a church service with a typical worship band, and my ears are ringing. I’m sure to be fine in a minute. Or hour. Or day—I hope. Why does everything every Christian musician performs nowadays seem to require high amplification?

AMEN! Amen. Again… amen!

It Will Only Get Worse

This is really sad. American youth are headed down the road to Antichrist. What do we do? I believe we need to begin teaching and discipling our kids like never before.

Burnett Meeting Has Been Postponed

Due to unforeseen circumstances, Missionary Bobby Burnett will not be able to be with us this Sunday. He will be coming June 7th. It will be SuperSonday so we will have Singspiration with lunch after. Bring a friend and something good to eat. Hope to see everyone there!

Missionaries Bobby and Sherry Burnett

I am so excited about the Burnettes coming to ALF on March 1st. We have been a supporter of their ministry “Love A Child” in Haiti for three years now and it will be great to hear firsthand what God is doing in the midst of the darkness of that country. These folks have the biggest heart and we want to do everything we can to help them.

Let me also announce that we are now sponsoring three children in Haiti. We have supported two children for the last couple of years but now we can add one. I am hoping that individuals in the church will also do so. Kathy and I are. Please do so if you can. It is only $24.00 per month or $288.00 per year to feed and educate a child in Haiti.

Make your plans to be here on March 1. Tell some folks the Burnettes are coming. Locally their TV program comes on ch. 55 on Monday nights at 8:00. Watch it to see what this ministry is up to. We are also hoping to send a team down to help them at some point this year. Pray the Lord will provide.

Revival This Weekend

The Reflectsons Jan 10-11

The Reflectsons Jan 10-11

Praise the Lord! God is so good. He just keeps blessing and blessing.

Our first young adult CARE group met on Monday night. I rejoice in the work of God. Mandi is leading the group through “When God’s People Pray.” I am so grateful to see this launched. Pray God give increase.

Do not forget the revival this weekend. The Reflectsons will be with us and I have heard from the Lord that He will be present. He is going to move this weekend to touch lives. I know that I know that He is. Make your plans to attend each meeting and please get the word out. Invite as many people as you can. This could very well be a life changing weekend for someone. DO NOT MISS A SERVICE!

I am praying for all of you on the fast with us that God is helping you to overcome all the temptations. Please make sure to pray and worship God at every opportunity. Keep sending those arrows of prayer at your prayer targets. I am believing God to save, heal and deliver. I believe He is going to move in my life, family and church. I am expecting bigger, better, deeper and greater things for the coming days.

On that note let me announce the schedule for the Prayer Retreat. We will meet Saturday the 17th from 9:00 am to noon and then on Sunday the 18th from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm. This will be a time to come away and pray, meditate, read Scripture and seek God. If you are participating in the 21 days of prayer and fasting you need to be a part of this!

Be blessed and I am expecting to see all the church family here Saturday night.
