Read this: Suffering From ‘Sunday School Syndrome’
I am really grieved when I read articles such as this. I haven’t read Ham’s book but it is clear that we have not been able to Biblically educate our children effectively. I’m not sure what went wrong or why we find ourselves in this predicament but we must look ahead. What do we do? What will work?
I believe one area where we failed is in discipling our children and youth. We can’t just teach them the Bible. We also have to model it and “flesh” it out. We needed to challenge our children to think in terms of ethics and morality from a Biblical world view. This is how Jesus did it and we are to do it as He did. We didn’t. We stuck them in Sunday School classes or youth programs where it was about entertainment and Bible stories.
We also allowed government schools to teach them secular hogwash unchallenged. Our kids have been taught evolution and relative morality since the 60’s. It’s not just in schools but in all forms of media as well. The TV and movies they watched and video games they played all were saturated with the hedonistic, pluralistic and materialistic mind set of this culture that we insist on calling Christian. It ain’t. Now we see the pay off.
Let’s get to work. We must claim our upcoming generations for Christ. Before it’s too late.
